Last night was incredible. I was truly honored to be able to share a stage with such amazing bands as Pedestrian and Overbreaker.  Timothy Jones and Ben Kenney are the second best rhythm section in music, falling just short of the Ashley Mendel/ Sekou Lumumba mark.  Seriously though, this was one of the best experiences I’ve had in my life.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who made it happen.  I owe you one.

Now, looking towards the future…

The album is still getting prepped and groomed for the August 1st release date.  I make no promises, but hopefully we’ll have a proper record release party around that time.  Keep checking in for updates.

Also, Ben’s other band has got a record deal. Look for them on tour this summer.

So I went on the Pretty Good Podcast with Gina and Randy in promotion of my show on Sunday at the Knitting Factory.  It was silly and delightful, even though I left feeling like I knew nothing about a TV show that I’ve seen every episode of. Nonetheless, they were gracious enough to let me play a song and vent my disdain for onions.

I’ve owned ashleymendel.com for at least five years now, and I’ve finally decided to scrape the rust off it, put some air in its tires and use it.

So, welcome!  My name is Ashley Mendel.  I’m 27 years old, I have a minimal amount of scarring, and am generally genuinely happy to be alive.

I’ve spent a lot of time working on a record of music that I’ve written, and I can almost smell the finish line.  My friend Ben Kenney has been an integral part of the process, doing everything from mixing my record to letting me borrow his car to go get some milk…soy milk…I’m not vegan, just think milk is disgusting…but yeah, Ben gets MVP this year.

Here’s a sample of the goods. It’s called Autoreverse.

In addition to making records, we’re going to get together with my other friend, Tim Jones, and play a gig at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood on June 28th. That’s us practicing shralping in the picture above. As you can clearly see, it gets a little unruly.
